Children are usually full of life and energy. Normally they hardly need a visit to hospital or clinic. But there are times when they need help from a specialist such as:

  1. When children are born with birth defects and deformities,
  2. When their milestones get delayed for some reason,
  3. When they are recovering from a severe illness or
  4. When they are in the process of getting back to activities after a major surgery
  5. When they are in Neonatal Intensive Care or have recently graduated from there.

A pediatric physiotherapist is specially skilled to take care of such difficult situations. Apart from relieving pain issues, a pediatric physiotherapist also takes diligent care to help children achieve developmental milestones, develop independence in daily activities, recover from injuries and effects of surgical interventions, and gain strength back. He/she also takes care to prevent deformities, contractures, disabilities, and complications arising out of accidents, burns, diseases of bones, muscles, nerves, chest, heart, etc.

A very important role of a pediatric physiotherapist is in empowering the parents with knowledge, independence, basic skill and life hacks of taking care of the compromised child at home. The new-age physiotherapists like to see their little clients becoming independent and graduating out of the therapy regimen rather than remaining dependent on their therapist. Childhood comes only once in everyone’s lifetime.

The Pediatric Physiotherapist is there to make sure that every child enjoys his or her childhood to its fullest potential regardless of the disease or difficulty that may have affected him. And all of it can be achieved in a fun-filled way. It is common to see Pediatric Physiotherapists becoming very good friends with their little clients and making the journey towards progress an enjoyable one.
