Our department is equipped with a modern digital X-ray machine, offering several advantages over traditional film-based X-rays:

Dose reduction : Digital image receptors are much more sensitive to low levels of radiation compared to film/screen, therefore require less quantity to produce a diagnostic radiographic image.
Post-processing : Digital X-rays produce clear, high-quality images that can be enhanced or zoomed in to show details that might not be visible right away. This helps doctors spot important features more easily and make accurate diagnoses without needing another scan.
Environmentally-friendly : Digital X-ray systems do not require film or chemical processing, significantly reducing medical waste. This makes the process cleaner, safer, and more environmentally sustainable compared to traditional film-based imaging.
Archivability : Storage of images occurs on servers, rather than entire warehouses of archived hard copies.

Patient Preparation & Comfort

Changing Rooms & Gowns

We ensure privacy and comfort during your scan. You may be asked to wear a gown, especially if your clothing contains metal, zippers, or buttons near the scan area. Our staff will guide you on what to wear or remove and provide a secure, private changing area.

Pregnancy Precaution

If there is any chance you may be pregnant, please inform our staff before the examination. For safety, all women of childbearing age undergoing abdominal or pelvic X-rays will be asked confidentially about pregnancy status and may be required to sign a declaration form.

Consent and Chaperones

Verbal consent for any procedure will be requested before your examination taking place. In some specific cases, written consent will also be obtained from you. These consent forms will be explained to you before you sign.

All patients within the IHR have a right to a chaperone being present whilst undergoing an examination. Chaperones will always maintain your privacy and dignity. If you are having an intimate examination a chaperone will automatically be provided.

Specialized Imaging Services

Our radiology team is also skilled in performing Hysterosalpingography (HSG) — a procedure used to examine the uterus and fallopian tubes — with minimal discomfort. Our expert gynaecologists ensure the process is gentle, efficient, and reassuring.
